At Charlottesville Waldorf School, we believe that education is one of the most meaningful investments a family can make. Our tuition reflects the depth, quality, and intention behind the Waldorf approach — an education that nurtures the whole child: head, heart, and hands.

We are committed to making this transformative education accessible to a diverse community of families. Below, you’ll find detailed information about tuition, fees, and our tuition assistance (financial aid) program designed to support affordability and inclusion.

Tuition and Fees

We understand that choosing the right school is a significant decision, and managing the associated costs is an important part of that process. We invite you to review our current year tuition and fee information and contact our admissions office with any questions. Our goal is to work with you to make a well-informed decision and to explore all available options to support your child’s educational experience.

Tuition Assistance/Financial Aid

Charlottesville Waldorf School offers tuition assistance for families with a demonstrated need. The School’s efforts to be generous with assistance are balanced by our responsibility to maintain financial solvency and meet operating expenses. Charlottesville Waldorf School maintains a tuition assistance program that is slightly above the national independent school standard, demonstrating our strong commitment to supporting families and inclusivity. Currently, 30% of CWS families receive tuition assistance.

We encourage all families concerned about affordability to apply. Our goal is to partner with you in making a Waldorf education possible for your child.

CWS seeks to develop a diverse student population and to support every enrolled family that values a Waldorf education as a family priority. While we aim to meet demonstrated financial need, it may not be possible to accommodate every unique circumstance. We ask that families consider all available resources when planning for tuition payments.

To ensure a fair and consistent process, we use Blackbaud Financial Aid—a third-party assessment platform—to evaluate household need. The recommendations provided by Blackbaud inform our Financial Aid Committee as it makes award decisions in alignment with school policies and resources.

Tuition assistance is available for:

  • School-year Early Childhood (drop-off programs)
  • Grades 1–8

Please note that financial aid is not available for Parent/Child classes or Summer Programs.
