5:1 in Early Childhood
6:1 in Grade School
At Charlottesville Waldorf School, we believe that strong relationships between teachers and students form the heart of a meaningful education. Our intentionally low student–teacher ratios ensure that each child is truly seen, supported, and guided as an individual.

In our Early Childhood classrooms, you’ll find a ratio of 5:1, allowing our caring teachers to nurture young children’s sense of security, wonder, and developing independence.
In the Grade School, our ratio is approximately 6:1. This level of attention means that teachers can deeply understand each child’s strengths, challenges, and unique learning style. It also allows them to adapt lessons, offer thoughtful encouragement, and foster a classroom environment where every student can thrive academically and socially.
We are proud to keep our classes small and our community close-knit. For us, it’s not just about numbers, it’s about building the trust and connection that helps children grow into confident, capable, and compassionate human beings.
