At Charlottesville Waldorf School, science begins long before textbooks. In early childhood, outdoor play and nature exploration lay the groundwork for careful observation and a sense of wonder about the world.

As students move through the grade school years, science becomes a hands-on, experiential journey. Children study Zoology, Botany, Astronomy, Geology, Meteorology, Physics, and both Organic and Inorganic Chemistry, always with an emphasis on curiosity, observation, and real-world connections.
Through stories, experiments, and fieldwork, our students don’t just learn facts; they develop a deep respect for nature and an ability to think like scientists.
