Early Childhood: 2 hours
Grade School: 1 hour +
Time spent outdoors is a cornerstone of our approach at Charlottesville Waldorf School. We know that fresh air, unstructured play, and connection with nature help children grow in body, mind, and spirit.

In Early Childhood, our youngest students spend at least two hours outside each day, exploring, climbing, digging, and imagining in all seasons and weather.
In the Grade School, outdoor time remains an essential part of the rhythm. Students enjoy at least one hour daily, with time to run, play games, build friendships, and return to their studies feeling refreshed and grounded.
We believe that childhood belongs outdoors as much as it does in the classroom: fostering resilience, creativity, and a lifelong love of the natural world.
