Duration
School year from mid-August through mid-June, including Faculty Work Days, and some email communication during the summer

7:30 am – 3:30 pm, Mon-Fri., plus one meeting 3:30-5pm once a week
Overview
CWS seeks a Lead Early Childhood teacher for a class of 16 three and a half to six year-old children. Waldorf Early Childhood certification is preferred but not required to apply.
Visit expenses will be covered by the school for the right candidate. Upon hire, moving expenses will be covered by the school.
Areas of Responsibility
Teaching Responsibilities
- Plan and carry out all areas of curriculum according to Waldorf pedagogy.
- Keep classroom supplies in good working condition. Order supplies as needed.
- Create and maintain a clean and orderly classroom space, including seasonal changes
- Keep a daily record of attendance.
- Review and keep a notebook of children’s emergency and dismissal forms, as well as the list of children who have health concerns (allergies, medical conditions etc.)
- Communicate all student and parent concerns in a timely and professional manner. Maintain regular communication with parents through a class newsletter.
- Attend faculty meetings and workdays according to the school calendar.
- Attend parent teacher conferences twice a year, attend one Open House, and host three class evenings for parents/guardians.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Work with the enrollment coordinator to facilitate new enrollments into our program
- Complete end-of-year reports according to CWS guidelines
- Participate in one faculty committee, duties which can be completed during the school day hours.
Meeting Responsibilities
- Full Faculty/Early Childhood department meeting once a week after school, Lead teacher meeting once a week during the school day
- Mentor meetings when applicable
Training
- Red Cross/CPR First Aid certification/Medicine Administration training (classes are usually offered during Faculty Work Days)
- Maintain a working knowledge of school policies and procedures: fire, shelter in place, and evacuation procedures, proper documentation of children’s injuries, location and use of first aid kit
- Playground rules
Evaluations and professional development:
Annual observations and periodic evaluations are part of professional development. Full-time teachers are expected to complete 20 hours of professional development each year. A portion of these hours are offered on campus during in-service days.

These are described in the CWS Faculty Handbook. They should be reviewed by applicants before employment is accepted.

- Proficiency in handwork (knitting, sewing, etc.) preferred
- Musical ability, especially singing
- Willingness to work out of Anthroposophy
- Acknowledging the inherent eurocentric bias and the social justice intentions of the Waldorf curriculum, have the ability to work toward consciously decolonizing the curriculum
- Willingness to pursue further Waldorf training if applicable
