May Day is a beloved Spring holiday in most Waldorf Schools, including CWS. The May Pole dancing and the flower crowns make it one of our most beautiful as well! Although we cannot gather to celebrate around the May Pole this year, many students in our Early Childhood classes will be making May Crowns – we can’t wait to see! Another beautiful May Day tradition is the May Baskets or May Cones, paper cones of flowers that are traditionally left, secretly, on the doorsteps of friends and neighbors. While physical distancing requirement might rule out sharing May Baskets this year, you can still make and enjoy them at home (and if you do, please send pictures to we can share!).
A template for an easy cone is attached at the button below, or you can just use a square piece of paper and roll it up in a cone shape!
