Participation in the strings program is mandatory at the Charlottesville Waldorf School in Middle School. All students begin violin in third grade, they may choose or be guided to another instrument to complete the orchestra in later years. So much is gained from experience playing music together in this way – the ability to work as a group, to each contribute their own important part to make up the cohesive and beautiful piece of music, developing their ear and understanding of pitch and tempo – and the satisfaction when they make it work is exceptional!
While the playgrounds have been idyllic during these gorgeous months of Autumn, as it grows chillier some updates are needed to keep all our students and faculty healthy and comfortable through the colder months. Please consider making a donation to our Campus Winterization Campaign to aid us in this effort! Winterization purchases are being made with care and an eye to the future – improving and caring for our campus is a longterm project with importance beyond the immediate need – so your contributions will benefit CWS for years to come!
