Come learn more about our Grade School Program!
Tour the classrooms and our beautiful, 10+ acre campus, and learn about how the Waldorf curriculum provides a multi-cultural, developmentally accurate, experience-based education for the whole child – respecting and nurturing the innate abilities of each child as they move through the elementary and middle school years. CWS offers a full Waldorf grade school program with a rich selection of specialty classes including movement, handwork, Spanish, gardening, woodwork, and orchestra.
Education begins with nurturing a child’s desire to learn
At the Charlottesville Waldorf School, rigorous academics are balanced and enhanced through cultivating genuine appreciation for the natural world and expansive experience in the arts. From first through eighth grade, students are immersed in their subjects, discovering not only the answers but how to ask the questions. Learning goes beyond the fundamentals, connecting the classroom experience to the world at large.
Learning to work together
Building strong social skills is a foundational element of the Waldorf school. Class sizes are small and stay with the same teachers for multiple years. Our mixed-age classrooms begin in the kindergartens and continue through combined grades in elementary and middle school, allowing a range of experience and aptitude within each class and encouraging bonds of friendship across age levels.
We look forward to showing you around our campus on Saturday, May 15! There will be two tours, one at 10am and one at 11am. Please register in advance and choose which tour you would like to attend. Masks are required for all visitors on the CWS campus, and health checks will be done at Open House check in.
