Diwali is a five-day Hindu festival of lights, held in the period from October to November. It is particularly associated with Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity, and marks the beginning of the fiscal year in India. It comes at harvest time and it unites three different streams of Hindu religions. There, homes are cleaned, special food prepared and many streamers of marigold flowers made. Everyone either buys or makes a simple clay oil lamp. Artists make colored sand paintings, which then blow away. At night there are fireworks. Inspired by this important international and unifying Holiday, CWS first celebrated Diwali in 2019 as a multicultural/global Festival.
